Welcome to ZNL Longhorns!

We are a small family farm nestled in Somervell County near Glen Rose, Texas, dedicated to raising registered Texas Longhorns since 2021. By day, we are educators and healthcare workers; by night, we tend to our beloved Longhorns, which add a special touch to our daily lives.

“Commit your work to the Lord and your plans will be established.” Proverbs 16:3

How We Started:

Zachary’s love for cattle began early, inspired by working with Herefords alongside his grandfather. The dream of owning his own herd took root with Levi, an orphaned bottle calf who couldn’t be registered but sparked the beginning of our journey. From Levi, our herd has grown to 22 Longhorns. We often say Longhorns are like potato chips—once you start, you can't stop!

“I own the cattle on a thousand hills.” Psalms 50:10

Why Longhorns?

We’re drawn to the Texas Longhorn for its vibrant appearance and gentle nature. Our family finds joy in the unique blend of color, horn twist, and temperament of each Longhorn. We collaborate with other breeders to ensure our herd has the best genetics for stunning offspring.

“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.” Colossians 3:23-24

What Is Most Rewarding?

Calving season is a highlight, offering a profound sense of wonder as we witness new life. We cherish the close bonds we form with our herd, which brings both joy and therapeutic comfort.

What Is the Biggest Challenge?

Dealing with sickness and death in our herd is tough, both physically and emotionally. We are grateful for the support of the Longhorn community, which helps us through these challenging times. Despite the ups and downs, we view our work as a beautiful gift from God.

“For everything, there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven: a time to be born, and a time to die.” Ecclesiastes 3:1-2
